SET OUT ON A CANOEING OR RAFTING ADVENTURE!
The Tongariro River has excellent white water rafting. The rapids are Grade three, meaning they are difficult enough to give you a challenge and adrenaline rush, but also safe enough to bring most of the family. In 2 1/2 hours you navigate over 50 roller coaster rapids, which is a very long rafting trip and it can only be accessed by raft or kayak for this reason you will see plenty of scenic untouched wilderness. LKNZ rates this as a five star experience, contact Rafting Adventures to book.
From the slopes of Mt Tongariro, the Whanganui River meanders its way to the Tasman Sea through one of New Zealand’s most unique National Parks. This area has a special place in New Zealand’s history and many signs of earlier eras of Maori and European habitation are still visible today.
Come and explore this timeless river with Yeti tours or Canoe Safaris guided canoe trips and kayaking tours in Ruapehu through many boulder strewn rapids, tranquil gorges and picturesque farmland and experience a wilderness adventure never to be forgotten.
